One Moment At A Time

by Jesse Giglio

I recently received an invitation from a friend to try out some new app. This was the note with it; "For some reason this made me think of you...I love their description; 'It doesn't make much sense but then again it's free.'"

The app is called 1-Hour Photo and it does just that. You take a photo within the app and then you wait to see the results. For one hour.

Here's part of the pitch:

"By the time you see your photos, the moments they've captured have already become memories, which changes how you feel about them forever.

Nobody gets distracted in the moment by reviewing photos as they're being taken."

While this app has some limitations the idea of waiting isn't one of them. As we're increasingly driven not only by instant gratification but future gratification, 1-Hour Photo creates a welcome pause. Your photo will have to wait. And so will your posts. And so will your likes.

But you'll be present and maybe someday that will present enough gratification in itself.
